Day 13: Sit in Silence for 5 Minutes. Just You + Stillness

Today’s challenge is quiet. On purpose.
Sit in silence for 5 minutes.
No phone. No TV. No background noise.
Just you… and stillness.

I know, I know—silence can feel uncomfortable.
Especially when you’re used to always being “on.”
But sometimes, silence is exactly what we need to hear ourselves again.

When was the last time you were truly still?
No scrolling. No multitasking. No filling the space?

Silence gives your nervous system a break.
It slows the racing thoughts.
It makes room for clarity.
And it reminds you: you don’t always have to be doing.

You are not lazy for resting.
You are not behind because you pause.
You are wise for knowing when it’s time to breathe.

Try this:

  • Set a timer for 5 minutes.

  • Sit somewhere comfortable.

  • Close your eyes or soften your gaze.

  • Notice your breath. Notice your body.

  • Let thoughts come and go—no judgment.

If it feels awkward, that’s okay.
If it feels peaceful, even better.

Just show up and be.

Your Turn:

Take your 5 minutes today.
Sit with yourself.
No agenda. No expectations.
Just presence.

And if you want, tag @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and tell me what the silence taught you.

Sometimes the most powerful thing you can do… is nothing at all.
