Day 20: Forgive Yourself for Something Old

Today’s challenge is tender:
Forgive yourself for something you’ve been carrying too long.

Maybe it’s a decision you regret.
A version of yourself you’ve outgrown.
Words you said—or didn’t say.
Something you didn’t know back then, but you hold it like you should’ve.

Here’s what I want you to remember:
You did the best you could with what you knew at the time.
And now… you get to let it go.

Because forgiveness isn’t just about letting yourself off the hook.
It’s about letting yourself live.

We all have moments we wish we could undo.
But holding on to guilt doesn’t heal you.
It hardens you.
It keeps you stuck in a moment that’s already gone.

You can’t change the past, but you can change how much it defines your present.

Try this:

  • Write a short note to your past self.

  • Say: “I forgive you.”

  • Then add: “I understand now. I release this.”

You can tear it up. Burn it (safely). Or keep it.
Whatever feels right to you.

Say it out loud if you need to:
“I am not my mistakes. I deserve peace, too.”

Your Turn:

What’s one thing you’re ready to stop beating yourself up about?

Tag @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and say:
“I forgave myself today.”

Because self-forgiveness isn’t weakness.
It’s one of the strongest things you’ll ever do.
