Day 27: Make a Joy List—Write Down 10 Things That Make You Feel Alive

Today’s challenge is a reminder that joy is not a luxury—it’s a lifeline.

You deserve to feel good. Not just when everything’s perfect (because let’s be real—when is that ever?), but in the middle of the messy, ordinary, in-between days, too.

So today, let’s do this together:
Write down 10 things that make you feel alive.

Not what’s supposed to make you happy.
Not what looks good on paper.
But the real, small, sacred stuff that lights you up inside.

Why This Matters:

When we’re overwhelmed, burnt out, or just stuck in a fog, joy is often the first thing to go.
We tell ourselves we’ll enjoy life after the bills are paid, the weight is lost, the inbox is cleared, the house is clean…

But joy is what brings us back to life.
Joy is what makes the rest of it feel worth it.

This list?
It’s not fluff.
It’s your emotional CPR.
Your soul’s little reminder that you’re still here—and there’s still good to be felt.

Try This:

  • Grab your journal or a scrap of paper.

  • At the top, write:
“Things that bring me joy and remind me I’m alive…”

  • Then list 10 things. Don’t overthink it.

It could be:

  • A hot shower after a long day

  • Dancing in the kitchen with no shame

  • Fresh sheets and a good book

  • Watching the sky change colors at sunset

  • A deep belly laugh

  • The first sip of coffee in the morning

  • Hugging someone you love

  • A song that hits right in the chest

  • Walking barefoot in the grass

  • Saying “no” and meaning it

No joy is too small.

Your Turn:

Make your list. Then pick one and actually do it today—even if only for five minutes.

Tag @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and share one of your joy sparks.

Let’s remind each other:
We are still allowed to feel joy.
We’re not too old.
Too tired.
Too anything.

We’re still here.
And that’s reason enough to feel alive.
