Day 26: Ask Yourself—“What Do I Need Right Now?

Today’s challenge is a pause.
A real, honest check-in with the woman you are right now.

Ask yourself: “What do I need today?”
Not what your family needs.
Not what your job needs.
Not what the world expects.
But what you need.

And here’s the hard part—give yourself permission to answer honestly.

Why This Matters:

We spend so much of our lives tuning in to everyone else’s needs.
We become masters of reading the room, keeping the peace, anticipating what others want.

But when was the last time you asked yourself what you need—and listened?

That’s not selfish.
That’s self-preservation.

Maybe today you need:

  • Rest, real rest

  • A walk outside with no destination

  • A conversation with someone who actually listens

  • Time alone

  • Nourishing food

  • A good cry

  • A long shower

  • A moment to do nothing

Whatever it is—it’s valid. And it matters.

Try This:

  • Find a quiet moment.

  • Put your hand on your heart.

  • Ask: “What do I need right now?”

  • Sit with the answer. Don’t rush past it.

  • Then—this is key—do what you can to meet that need. Even in a small way.

Your Turn:

Listen to your inner voice today.
Not the loud one full of shoulds and shame—but the quiet one that just wants to be cared for.

Because midlife isn’t about powering through.
It’s about finally, finally, learning how to check in with ourselves—and honor what we hear.
