Day 5: Rest Without Guilt—for 30 Minutes, Do Nothing

Let’s get straight to it today, Fab Fam.
You are allowed to rest.
Not after the house is clean.
Not after every box is checked.
Not after you’ve “earned it.”

Just… because you need it.

Today’s challenge is simple:
Sit down. Lie down. Take 30 minutes and do nothing.
No multitasking. No folding laundry while watching TV.
No scrolling through emails while pretending to relax.

Just rest.

Now if your brain starts whispering, “You should be doing something…”
Tell it:
“I am. I’m restoring myself.”

Why this matters:
So many of us were taught that rest is a reward.
That we have to prove we’ve done enough before we’re allowed to stop.
But the truth is—you are not a machine.

You are a woman with a body, a spirit, a story.
You have carried families, careers, burdens, and worries that no one even sees.
You don’t have to break to deserve a break.

And let’s be real: sometimes rest is the most revolutionary thing we can do.
In a world that expects us to grind, rest is rebellion.
It’s reclaiming your time, your body, and your energy.

Here’s how to do it:

  • Set a timer for 30 minutes.

  • Sit or lie somewhere soft.

  • No phone. No TV. Maybe just soft music, a candle, or silence.

  • Let your thoughts wander. Let your shoulders drop.

  • Let yourself be.

That’s it. No guilt. No shame.
Just stillness.

Your Turn:
Take your 30 minutes today.
After, write down how it felt. Did it feel hard? Did it feel good?
Both are okay. Both are human.

If you want, tag me @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and share your resting space. Let’s normalize it. Let’s celebrate it.

Because you are worthy of rest—not for what you do,
but simply because you are.

Now go put your feet up, sis. I’ll see you tomorrow.
