Day 18: Try Something Creative—No Outcome, Just Play
Let’s do something today that has no goal, no deadline, no need to be “good.”
Today’s challenge is to try something creative, just for the joy of it.
Paint.
Doodle.
Write a poem.
Make a silly video.
Sing off-key in your kitchen.
Arrange flowers.
Play with color. Dance without rhythm.
Whatever makes you feel like a kid again.
This isn’t about being “talented.”
It’s about letting go.
Midlife comes with a lot of responsibilities—but not enough room to just play.
And play is medicine for the mind.
You don’t need a finished product.
You don’t need praise.
You just need permission to create without pressure.
Why this matters:
Creativity taps into something deep.
It lets you express what can’t always be said.
It quiets your inner critic and wakes up your inner child.
It helps you feel like you again.
Even if it’s messy.
Even if it’s awkward.
Even if no one sees it but you.
Especially then.
Try this:
Choose a creative outlet you used to love—or have always wanted to try.
Set a timer for 15 minutes.
Let go of the rules.
Don’t aim to impress. Just explore.
Let it be fun. Let it be freeing. Let it be for you.
Your Turn:
What did you create today?
How did it feel to just play?
Tag me @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and share your joy—even if it’s just a scribble, a lyric, or a mess of color.
Because creativity isn’t about perfection.
It’s about letting yourself breathe in a new way.
