Day 2: Journal for 5 Minutes About What’s Been on Your Heart
You made it through Day 1—you unfollowed the mess, cleared your digital space, and protected your peace. That matters. Now today, we’re going inward.
The challenge is simple:
Sit with yourself for five minutes and write what’s on your heart.
No filters. No edits. No need to sound deep or wise or healed.
Just write what’s real.
Here’s the thing about journaling—it’s not about being a “writer.” It’s about being honest.
We hold so much in. We smile when we want to cry. We say “I’m fine” when we’re falling apart. And over time, that silence becomes a weight. A pressure. A kind of emotional constipation (yes, I said it).
But when you write—when you let it out—you loosen the grip.
Maybe what’s on your heart today is heavy. Or maybe it’s joy you didn’t even know you felt. Maybe it’s resentment. Or grief. Or gratitude. Or confusion. It doesn’t matter what shows up. All of it is valid. All of it belongs.
Here’s how to do it:
Set a timer for 5 minutes.
Put your phone on Do Not Disturb.
Open a notebook or blank page.
Write the first thing that comes to mind.
Don’t overthink. Don’t judge. Just release.
Still feeling stuck? Try starting with:
“Right now, I feel…”
“What I wish someone knew is…”
“Lately I’ve been holding in…”
And if nothing comes out? That’s okay too. Sometimes the act of sitting with yourself is enough.
Why this matters:
Journaling has literally saved me more times than I can count. It gave me language when I didn’t even understand my feelings. It’s helped me see patterns, process pain, and come back to myself when the world tried to pull me away.
This isn’t about fixing yourself.
This is about meeting yourself.
And honey, you deserve your own attention.
Your turn.
Take 5 minutes. Open your heart. Put it on paper.
