Day 24: Say This Out Loud—“I Am Doing My Best”
Today’s challenge is simple:
Say it out loud—“I am doing my best.”
That’s it. That’s the medicine.
Say it in the mirror.
Say it in your car.
Say it to the version of you that keeps beating herself up because the house isn’t clean, the to-do list isn’t finished, and your energy isn’t what it used to be.
You are doing your best.
And it’s enough.
Why this matters:
We’re so quick to give others grace.
But ourselves? We’re our own harshest critics.
We pick apart everything we didn’t get to.
We shame ourselves for needing rest.
We measure our worth by how productive we were today.
But let’s get something straight:
You’re not a machine.
You’re a full human being—navigating life, emotions, hormones, family, change, and your own healing journey.
Of course you’re tired.
Of course it’s hard.
And you’re still showing up.
That counts. It always counts.
Try this:
Pause.
Place your hand on your heart.
Breathe deep and say:
“I am doing my best. And that is enough today.”
You don’t have to believe it fully yet.
Just say it. Let your body hear it.
Sometimes your nervous system needs to know you’re not going to push her to the edge today.
Your Turn:
Say the words. Then say them again.
Let them melt some of the pressure you’ve been carrying.
And if you feel moved, tag @FabAtFiftyPlus or use #FabMentalHealthMay and say:
“I am doing my best—and I’m proud of that.”
Because you are.
And I’m proud of you, too.
